Wounds and their causes
We have all experienced wounds. They can be the result of several causes. Accidents at home and outside the home can cause wounds. Sometimes causing wounds are a necessary part of medical treatment like a surgery. Other times, wounds arise as a result of a personal situation such as aging or circumstances such as being bed-ridden.
Treatment of Wounds
No matter what the causes of wounds, once we have them, then the wound must be treated without delay. Otherwise foreign organisms like bacteria and viruses get access to our bodies through these wounds. Treatment of the wounds may simply involve cleaning them and covering them with gauze and bandages. Sometimes special creams or ointment have to be applied on the wound. For ordinary wounds, it is normal to use Providone-Iodine Ointment of which a popular brand is Betadine. Other wounds may need specific creams or ointments targeted at a specific illness or medical condition. Some wounds may require specific types of bandages and dressings to be applied.
The frequency and duration of the dressing is usually decided by the doctor. Some wounds may need to be dressed several times a day. Others may need to be dressed several times a week. Some just need a single dressing till they heal. The doctor usually decides from looking at the nature of the wound and progress in healing.
So patients may have wounds that need to be dressed regularly. Going to the hospital every time a dressing is needed can be tiring or difficult. With this difficulty in mind, we provide wound dressing services to our clients to ease difficulties caused by movement. This service is provided in the comfort of their homes.
